Jewish cemetery in Smalyavichy

A photo catalog of the burials of this cemetery is available at the LINK

According to Jewish canons, the land in the cemetery is considered holy. Each tombstone and the cemetery as a whole are inviolable as long as its location is known. In recent decades, the preserved part of the Jewish cemetery in Smalyavichy has been restored and is a local landmark. It is located today on Sovetskaya Street, on a flat piece of land about 300 meters long, enclosed by a wooden fence. The Jewish cemetery has about eight hundred graves, of which a little less than half are fenced and well maintained. Despite the fact that most of the territory is well-groomed, some areas require clearing of vegetation.
